Mark Has Some Good News, Part 70, Certainty

Mark 15:

Jesus Is Buried

42 And when evening had come, since it was the day of Preparation, that is, the day before the Sabbath, 43 Joseph of Arimathea, a respected member of the Council, who was also himself looking for the kingdom of God, took courage and went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. 44 Pilate was surprised to hear that he should have already died. And summoning the centurion, he asked him whether he was already dead. 45 And when he learned from the centurion that he was dead, he granted the corpse to Joseph. 46 And Joseph bought a linen shroud, and taking him down, wrapped him in the linen shroud and laid him in a tomb that had been cut out of the rock. And he rolled a stone against the entrance of the tomb. 47 Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses saw where he was laid.

Some people will tell you that Jesus faked it and didn't die on the cross but swooned. They generally come in pairs and bother you on Saturdays in white shirts and black ties with name tags.

Here we read quite plainly that Jesus had not only died but had been wrapped in linen, his body was most likely anointed with the myrrh that was given to him as a child which was a spice used to anoint the dead. And placed into a rock tomb for 3 days and nights. If the wounds hadn't killed him and the linen hadn't suffocated him and the spices not have chocked him or the tomb not have given him hypothermia. Then the three days without food and water would have after the night of beatings and the day of crucifixion would have.

Jesus did die there is no way to look at scripture and say otherwise

But did he stay dead?
