Mark Has Some Good News, Part 56, Proof And Faith
The Widow's Offering
41 And he sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the offering box. Many rich people put in large sums. 42 And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make a penny.43 And he called his disciples to him and said to them, "Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box. 44 For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on."
Giving to God is never about how much you give but how much you have. 1% of a million dollars is still more than most will ever make in a month. But giving out of what you have instead of giving what don't need is what God wants. Showing a piece of what he's given you instead of what you think is extra is what he seeks. This is why even the best fruit of the harvest is nothing compared to the new sheep in the flock. The lord looked upon Able's offering instead of Cain's because he was giving his herds new life to God (literally the new sheep makers from his flock) and Cain only gave the best of his surplus.
When it comes to our money Jesus doesn't want a statistic or a percentage. He want proof and faith that we trust in Him for all our needs.
The woman was poor but never the less in God's hands.
